Daughter convinced her mom to buy a Powerball ticket. Then she won big in Missouri
A Missouri mother hardly ever plays Powerball, but her daughter convinced her to buy one ticket as the jackpot soared.
She bought her Powerball ticket at a Casey’s General Store in Osceola, then waited to see if she won anything during the July 15 drawing, according to a July 26 news release from the Missouri Lottery.
“It just takes one to win!” she told lottery officials.
Her ticket matched the Powerball and four of the white balls drawn, officials said. This qualified her for a $50,000 prize.
“The good Lord must have been looking over me,” the mom said when claiming her big win. “It’s a blessing.”
She plans to use her winnings to pay off her home mortgage.
The Powerball jackpot was estimated to be worth $875 million during the July 15 drawing. The Missouri woman was one number away.
Osceola is about 100 miles southeast of Kansas City.
