A woman won a huge prize after a new scratch-off ticket “caught her eye,” Missouri officials said.

The lucky lottery player was in Springfield when she decided to buy the $50 scratch-off, according to a July 14 news release by the Missouri Lottery. She had no idea she’d win $5 million.

“I picked it because it’s a new game, and I like the color,” she told lottery officials.

She found out about her winnings after scanning the 500X Scratchers ticket on her mobile app, officials said.

“I was shaking,” she told officials. “I’m still in shock.”

Lottery officials said the woman called her husband first thing to share the news.

Her prize was the new game’s first $5 million jackpot, according to the release.

Springfield is in southern Missouri, about 170 southeast of Kansas City.

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.

If you or a loved one shows signs of gambling addiction, you can seek help by calling the national gambling hotline at 1-800-522-4700 or visiting the National Council on Problem Gambling website.
