Need a laugh? Watch man have ‘time of his life’ conducting orchestra after raffle win
A festive orchestra concert in New York left the audience and millions of viewers online laughing at the conductor.
It might be considered rude in a typical performance, but the novice guest conductor’s antics were too much for even a poker-face pro.
Tim Schultheis, the former art director at Vogue Magazine, won a holiday raffle held by the Chelsea Symphony and got a chance to conduct the players during a Christmas song — an opportunity he made the most of.
Schultheis’ humorous conducting and his dancing on stage as he conducted “Sleigh Ride” garnered more than 3 million views on TikTok.
“Bless his heart. He’s having the time of his life,” one viewer said on TikTok.
He was — but so were the musicians. Listeners got a brass-forward version of Sleigh Ride with the trombone rising above most of the melody.
“I’ll be honest— it was sounding great but I could have used a little more trombone,” one listener joked.
“I have no idea how the orchestra isn’t dying laughing but omg I wanna do this,” another said.
The symphony thanked Schultheis for his interpretive conducting and shared photos online.
“What a joyous week and fantastic way to celebrate the end of the year,” it said on Facebook.
