A man’s decomposing body was found in a Hawaii home after a friend did a welfare check and smelled a “foul odor,”, police said.

Police were called to a home about at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 11, in Mountain View, where they found a “badly decomposed body” on the floor, according to a news release by the Hawaii Island Police Department.

The body, which has not been identified, was transported to a local hospital and an autopsy is scheduled for later this week, police said.

Police believe foul play may have been involved in the man’s death, according to the news release.

Anyone with information about the man’s death should contact police investigators at 808-961-2375.
