Man on phone with wife dies in CA road rage shooting. ‘I told him not to get out’
A 30-year-old man was killed in a road rage shooting in California while he was on a call with his wife, his family told multiple news outlets.
The homicide resulted from a “possible road rage dispute,” which happened around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 18 at an intersection in San Lorenzo, according to the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office.
Rienheart Asuncion was on the phone with his wife, Love, who he had just married a few months prior to his death, when he got into a fight with another driver, KTVU reported.
“I told him not to get out, not to get out from his car, but he didn’t hear me,” Love told the news outlet.
Love’s husband got out of his vehicle and was shot as he approached the other driver, KABC-TV reported.
Deputies found Rienheart in the street with gunshot wounds, The Mercury News reported. He was pronounced dead.
“The hardest part is that I’m here in the Philippines, and I can’t do anything and that’s it. I just cry all night and almost collapse,” Love told KABC-TV.
San Lorenzo is about 25 miles southeast of San Francisco.
