Driver finds disgruntled rider stuck in grille of car. Then rescuers had to be called
One driver in Virginia had some unexpected company along for the ride, prompting a rescue.
Fairfax County police said a driver called them the morning of Aug. 27 after realizing a hawk was wedged inside the grille of their car, its wings and head sticking out of the vehicle.
An animal protection police officer came out to the driver, who pulled over near I-66 and I-495.
The rescuer helped free the disgruntled hawk from the grille and transport it to a licensed wildlife rehab center, police said.
“Good thing the driver realized & it was able to be saved,” one person commented on the police’s Facebook page. “Hope this beautiful creature recovers fully.”
“Well done. I’m sure that (hawk) is thinking ‘wow! What a day!’” another commented. “Keep up the good work.”
