Missing 8-year-old found safe after leaving with uncle, Louisiana cops say
UPDATE: Missing boy Chaz Wilson, 8, has been found safe and his uncle was arrested, Louisiana State Police confirmed on May 18. The Level II Endangered Child Advisory has been canceled. The original story is below.
An 8-year-old boy is believed to be in “imminent danger” after leaving with his uncle earlier this week, according to Louisiana State Police.
The agency issued a Level II Endangered Child alert for Chaz Wilson, who left his home on North Scanlan Street in Hammond around 8 a.m. Tuesday, May 17 and never returned, police said in a news release.
The advisory was issued early Wednesday, May 18, on behalf of the Hammond Police Department.
Authorities said Chaz may be with his uncle, Marlin Wilson, 41, who is wanted for questioning in the boy’s disappearance.
Wilson was supposed to drop his nephew off at school Tuesday morning but the child never arrived, state police said. It’s unclear where the two may be headed.
Chaz is a Black male with brown eyes and black hair, standing 4 feet, four inches tall and weighing around 55 pounds, police said. He was last seen wearing a blue shirt and black and red shorts.
Wilson is a Black male with brown eyes and black hair who is 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighs about 200 pounds. Police said he was last seen wearing a black Saints jersey and black shorts.
Wilson may be traveling in a 2013 off-white Kia Soul with Louisiana temporary tag number 19927969, according to state police.

Hammond is about 50 miles east of Baton Rouge.
