A father and son drowned when their boat overturned on a private pond in east Georgia over the weekend, according to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.

The accident occurred around 4 p.m. Sunday, April 10, near Brockton Road in Jackson County, officials said.

The victims, identified as 55-year-old Calvin Harris Sr. of Rex and 32-year-old Calvin Harris Jr. of Stone Mountain, were on a Jon boat when it capsized, according to a news release. A dive team recovered their bodies from the pond.

Authorities haven’t released further details and said the incident remains under investigation.

Jackson County is about 20 miles northwest of Athens.
