Gymnastics coach caught taking ‘inappropriate’ photos of girls practicing, NJ cops say
A gymnastics coach was arrested after he took several “inappropriate” photos of girls practicing and stored them on his cell phone, New Jersey state police say.
He’s also accused of doing so at gymnastics competitions, police said in an April 7 news release. The coach was arrested on March 30.
Nicholas Adair, 24, of Lake Hiawatha, is charged with manufacturing and possession of child sexual abuse material, according to state authorities.
State police and other agencies began investigating in January after receiving multiple tips about the inappropriate photos from local law enforcement, the news release said.
On March 30, a search warrant was executed at Adair’s home and he was arrested after “multiple files of child sexual abuse material” were found on his cell phone, state police said.
Adair coached at Paramount Gymnastics in Hillsborough, and he was fired on the day of his arrest after the center learned of the investigation, the owner told McClatchy News in a statement.Hillsborough is about 60 miles southwest of Manhattan.
The gymnastics center writes online that it is “proud to offer an environment that fosters a safe, fun and positive learning experience for all participants.”
As of April 8, Adair was being detained at the Morris County Jail ahead of a trial, police said.
“The investigation remains ongoing,” police said.
