After allegedly breaking these rules, Delta, American and Frontier Airlines are hit with fines

Associated Press

Consumer protection is important, and Delta, American and Frontier Airlines are learning that fact to the tune of several hundred thousand dollars, WTOC reports.

All three airlines have agreed to pay fines in settlement of government allegations that they broke rules aimed at consumer protection, according to WTOC.

Delta failed to accuratley report the number of mishandled baggage complaints from passengers, while American did not make refunds in a timely manner according to Transportation Department findings reported by WTOC.

Frontier was found to have involuntarily removed people from overbooked flights. The report claims that they did this without asking for volunteers or giving correct compensation said WTOC. They also were alleged by the government to have failed to aid disabled passengers.

None of the airlines acknowledged or denied any wrongdoing, WTOC said.

Delta will pay fines of $200,000, while American agreed to pay $250,000. Frontier agreed to a $400,000 fine for its multiple alleged infractions, according to WTOC.
