3 Burton wrecks in 24 hours send 3 to hospital

Three people were injured in three separate wrecks over a 24-hour stretch this week in Burton, according to Burton Fire District spokesman Daniel Byrne.

Just after 8 p.m. Thursday a Jeep and another vehicle collided at the intersection of Robert Smalls Parkway and Castle Rock Road, causing heavy damage, Byrne said. The Jeep driver was injured, and had to be pulled from the vehicle by firefighters.

The driver was transported to Beaufort Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Byrne said.

Only an hour earlier a vehicle rolled over into the marsh off Roseida Road, Byrne said. The driver was treated on the scene.

A third wreck involving a vehicle and a motorcycle took place just before noon Friday.

Both the driver and the motorcycle operator were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Byrne said.

The Burton Fire District has responded to over 120 motor vehicle wrecks this year.
