One injured in two-vehicle accident on U.S. 278 near Beach City Road

A traffic accident involving a box truck and an SUV blocked eastbound lanes of U.S. 278 near Beach City Road on Hilton Head Island for more than an hour Monday.

The accident occurred around 12 p.m.

One person has been taken to the hospital, though the extent of their injuries is unknown, according to Hilton Head Fire and Rescue Division spokesman Joheida Fister.

Traffic started to move again by around 1:15 p.m.
