Jasper County semi crash kills driver on I-95
The driver of a tractor trailer was killed Wednesday when his vehicle ran off I-95, struck a tree and burst into flames.
The 2006 semi was traveling south on I-95 in Jasper County near the 25 mile marker when the driver ran off the right side of the road around 5 p.m., according to Lance Cpl. Matt Southern of the SC Highway Patrol.
When it hit the tree, the truck jack-knifed and burst into flames when the gas tank ruptured, Southern said.
The victim died at the scene.
The driver’s name has not yet been released by Jasper County Coroner Martin Sauls III.
