One injured in Hilton Head wreck on U.S. 278

One person was hospitalized Sunday afternoon following a three-car wreck on the north end of Hilton Head Island.

The three vehicles were involved in the accident on William Hilton Parkway and Squire Pope Road at 4 p.m., said Capt. Bob Bromage of the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office. The driver of a BMW was transported to Hilton Head Hospital with minor injuries sustained when an airbag deployed, Bromage said.

One lane of William Hilton Parkway westbound was briefly shut down following the wreck, according to Joheida Fister, fire marshal for the Hilton Head Island Fire & Rescue Division
