Enmark to pay for repairs to vehicles damaged by tainted gasoline

Enmark will pay to repair vehicles damaged by gasoline contaminated by diesel at the Okatie Enmark gas station earlier this week.

Drivers who filled up at the station Monday or Tuesday and are having problems with their vehicles can call Enmark’s customer service line at 1-800-944-3835, Ext. 3432, for a resolution, according to Matt Clements, director of marketing for Enmark.

“If any customer ever has a concern, we want them to know that their satisfaction is guaranteed,” Clements said Friday via email.

The mix up happened around 10 p.m. Monday when diesel fuel was mistakenly unloaded into the unleaded tank by a fuel carrier, Clements said.

The problem was identified Tuesday morning, he said.

“We are absolutely paying for any necessary vehicle repairs that are a result of this occurrence,” Clements said.

Several drivers reached out to the social media website Facebook earlier this week to ask other motorists if they had experienced any break downs after visiting the gas station.

Local mechanics also reported servicing vehicles that had been damaged by the contaminated fuel.
