Name of Jasper County motorcycle crash victim released

A 32-year-old Savannah motorcycle driver lost his life Friday morning after he was hit by a truck on S.C. 315 near U.S. 17.

Ian Richard S. Nicholson was pronounced dead after the crash, according to Jasper County Coroner Martin Sauls.

The truck disregarded a stop sign on S.C. 315 and struck Nicholson's motorcycle, Lance Cpl. Hannah Wimberly of the Highway Patrol said.

The crash remains under investigation.

Emergency personnel closed the northbound lanes of U.S. 17 in the wake of the accident.
