Roadwork on 278 wrapping up, lane to reopen
A road project on U.S. 278 at Buck Island Road is wrapping up as of 1 p.m. Friday and all lanes should be open to traffic shortly, Beaufort County stormwater manager Eric Larson said.
The project, which involved unclogging a storm drain in the median of the road, resulted in the closure of one of the eastbound lanes for several hours Friday.
The clog was caused by heavy rains washing landscaping materials into the drain, Larson said.
Repair work was done by both the county and S.C. Department of Transportation crews.
