Hilton Head man struck, killed on parkway

A 58-year-old Hilton Head Island man was killed while trying to cross William Hilton Parkway on the island Wednesday night, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol.

Kevin Reagan died at the scene after trying to cross the highway near Marina Side Drive at about 9:50 p.m., authorities said. He was struck by an eastbound 2007 Honda SUV. The driver was identified by Senior Trooper Hannah Wimberly as 59-year-old Paula Spampinato, who was not injured.

Deputies directed traffic until after midnight, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office report.

The Highway Patrol is investigating the wreck.
