Morning crash at Talmadge Bridge causes headache for SC, GA drivers

10 a.m. update: The Savannah Police Department reports that the bridge is now reopened.

At 7:39 a.m., the Savannah Police Department reported a traffic accident had occurred on U.S. 17 at the Talmadge Bridge near South Carolina.

Northbound traffic from Savannah is now being diverted onto Hutchinson Island and the Oglethorpe Avenue exit. As of 9:15 a.m., the crash was causing about a 20-minute delay.

Law enforcement is advising drivers to travel with caution or use alternative routes.
