Lady’s Island bridge, downtown Beaufort roads closing for Veterans Day parade

The City of Beaufort’s Veterans Day parade will shutter a number of high-traffic roadways in the downtown area Tuesday morning.

From 9:45 a.m. to about noon, the parade requires a pause to vehicular traffic on the Woods Memorial Bridge, the iconic span connecting downtown Beaufort and Lady’s Island.

The following roadways will also be affected, according to the Beaufort Police Department:

  • Boundary Street — Closed from Adventure Street to Carteret Street
  • Carteret Street — Closed from Boundary Street to Bay Street
  • Bay Street — Closed from Carteret Street to Bladen Street
  • Bladen Street — Closed from Bay Street to Boundary Street

Drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes. Delays are expected on Ribaut Road and in surrounding areas due to the detour.

Lineup for parade participants begins at 8 a.m. Tuesday on Adventure Street, according to organizers at Beaufort County Veterans Affairs.
