See photos of suspect truck in Beaufort-area hit-and-run that killed bicyclist

Troopers have released photos of a “vehicle of interest” in last month’s hit-and-run that killed a bicyclist on a Beaufort-area highway.

The blue 2002 Ford F-150 truck struck a bicyclist on U.S. 21 (Trask Parkway) near Bruce K. Smalls Road between 8 p.m. July 5 and 6 a.m. July 6 before leaving the scene, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The suspect vehicle’s license plate is 634BXZ, according to the SCHP informational flyer. It may have damage on its front passenger side and may be in the process of being repaired.

Coroner’s staff identified the deceased bicyclist as 50-year-old Beaufort resident Vick Lamont Smalls. Loved ones remember him as a “natural comedian” and a compassionate friend.

Anyone with information on the driver’s identity is encouraged to contact the SCHP anonymously at 843-953-6010, 1-800,768-1501 or by dialing *HP.
