GA woman killed in Saturday crash on SC 170; 3 passengers sent to hospital

A Saturday evening crash on S.C. 170 (Okatie Highway) killed a Georgia woman and sent three of her passengers to the hospital after her sedan struck a pickup truck that was turning off the highway.

Brittney Shuler, 36, of Hinesville, GA, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash around 5:30 p.m. Saturday, according to the Beaufort County Coroner’s Office.

Shuler was the driver of a 2008 Ford sedan heading northeast on S.C. 170 toward Beaufort and carrying three passengers. The car struck a 2022 Ford pickup as the truck truck attempted to turn left onto Callawassie Drive from the opposite side of the highway, according to Master Trooper William Bennett of the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

First responders pronounced Shuler dead at the scene of the crash while her three passengers were taken to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah. The driver of the truck was uninjured, according to the SCHP.

Information on funeral services for Shuler had not been publicly released as of Monday morning.
