SC 170 crash closes lanes, slows Okatie traffic during rainy rush hour

Commuters in the Okatie area were advised to expect traffic slowdowns Wednesday morning after a car crash blocked one lane of S.C. 170 (Okatie Highway) in each direction.

The crash happened around 7:30 a.m. near the intersection of S.C. 170 and Palmer Grace Drive, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies had blocked off the left lanes of S.C. 170 on both northbound and southbound sides of the highway and were directing traffic from the median. A pair of firetrucks arrived on scene shortly after the collision.

Drivers using Okatie Highway to head between Beaufort, Bluffton and Jasper County should expect traffic delays during the Wednesday morning rush hour.
