More than 700 cyclists will cruise through roads and pathways for the 17th annual Pedal Hilton Head Island, which is expected to slow traffic Sunday.

Beginning at 7:30 a.m., the first wave of cyclists will depart from Lowcountry Celebration Park at 94 Pope Ave. The last group will leave at 9:30 a.m. The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office urged drivers to take extra caution and stay aware of cyclists on the road.

Throughout the morning, cyclists will be on the following roads:

  • Pope Avenue and Palmetto Bay roads
  • Cross Island Parkway and 278 to/from mainland
  • Marshland Road and Town pathways
  • Gardner and Leg O Mutton roads
  • Beach City Road
  • Dillon and Union Cemetery roads
  • Fish Haul Road

Pedal Hilton Head Island is a charity ride that benefits The Boys & Girls Club of Hilton Head Island. The club typically serves 325 children daily, with about two-thirds living under the federal poverty line.
