Ejected driver airlifted to Savannah Hospital after Tuesday night crash near Sun City

A rollover traffic accident caused a male driver to be ejected from a pickup truck during a two-car crash on Highway 278 near Sun City at 8 p.m. Tuesday night.

The collision between the pickup truck and a Toyota SUV happened at the intersection of 278 and Okatie Center Blvd. South, near Wendy’s.

According to Stephen Combs, spokesperson for the Bluffton Township Fire District, the ejected victim was airlifted to Savannah Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The female driver of the Toyota was taken by ambulance to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
