Coroner identifies man who died in fatal Hilton Head car crash Friday.

One person died early Friday morning in a fatal crash on Hilton Head Island.

The driver, Gregory Parcella, 45 of Hilton Head, was headed south down Spanish Wells Road in a 2016 Tesla sedan around 12:20 a.m. Friday morning. He was the only person in the vehicle.

Near Marshland Road, the Tesla veered off the road to the right and struck a tree, according to Lance Cpl. Nick Pye with the South Carolina Highway Patrol. The driver was killed.

Parcella was announced dead on the scene, according to Beaufort County Deputy Coroner Margaret Bowyer. Parcella’s autopsy was completed at the county’s forensic pathologist suite, but his cause of death remains pending.
