9:15 a.m. Saturday: Beaufort police reported that Bay Street and Woods Memorial Bridge have reopened.

Runners facing the next step of Beaufort’s Triple Crown will have sole use of the Woods Memorial Bridge during Saturday morning’s 5K race.

From 7:15 to 9:45 a.m. Saturday, the bridge that connects Beaufort to Lady’s Island will be closed to vehicle and tugboat traffic for the Swing Bridge Run, according to the S.C. Department of Transportation.

Drivers should expect traffic delays in the area and seek alternate routes across the waterway, such as the McTeer Bridge.

The Swing Bridge Run is one of three races in Beaufort’s Triple Crown. This is the second race in the series, following the Run Forrest Run 5K held last month. The final race will be the Turkey Trot on Nov. 21.

Participants will start on Bay Street across from Best Western Seaside Inn and run across the iconic bridge. Then, they’ll turn around on Meridian Road, north of Yeomans Street, cross the bridge again and finish where they started on Bay Street.
