Driver airlifted to hospital after crash near Broad River Bridge on Lemon Island
A driver was airlifted to the hospital after their car went into the marsh near the Broad River Bridge Thursday on Lemon Island, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office and the Bluffton Township Fire District.
The crash happened before 4:30 p.m. on S.C. 170 near Broad River Bridge. Both eastbound lanes of S.C. 170 were blocked by emergency responders.
The vehicle involved in the crash overturned into the marsh but did not sink into the water, said Deputy Chief Derrek Church with the Bluffton Township Fire District.
Church did not provide the driver’s condition Thursday.
