Police officer, one other injured in Bluffton Parkway crash on Monday, officials say

Two people, including a Bluffton Police Department officer, were taken to the hospital after a crash Monday afternoon on Bluffton Parkway, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The crash happened at 1:10 p.m. at Bluffton Parkway and Buck Island Road, said Trooper Nick Pye with the South Carolina Highway Patrol. The two cars involved in the crash included a 2021 Ford Explorer registered to the Bluffton Police Department and a 2007 Nissan pickup truck.

Pye did not know the condition either driver was in following the crash.

The crash shut down all eastbound traffic in Bluffton Parkway until about 1:45 p.m., according to a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office alert and the Bluffton Township Fire District.

The crash involved an officer and will be investigated by the South Carolina Highway Patrol, said Sgt. Bonifacio Perez with the Bluffton Police Department.
