St. Helena man dead after single-car rollover accident Friday morning, coroner says

A St. Helena man was killed Friday morning after his car rolled out of control on the southern end of the island, according to the Beaufort County Coroner’s Office.

George White, 53, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash Friday, according to Beaufort County Coroner David Ott.

The accident happened just before 10:30 a.m. Friday on Sam Doyle Road. As he was traveling west, White’s car went off the left edge of the road, hit a culvert and rolled over several times, according to Cpl. Tyler Tidwell of the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

White was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, Ott added.
