Thursday afternoon crash on Hilton Head shuts down U.S. 278 lanes heading off-island
A crash Thursday afternoon shut down at least two lanes heading off of Hilton Head Island toward Bluffton on U.S. 278, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office alert.
The accident, which took place before 3:30 p.m. Thursday, happened at the intersection of Squire Pope Road and U.S. 278.
The two outside lanes heading west on U.S. 278 are being blocked by police and the crash, officials said in the alert.
