Be prepared to add a few minutes to your commute next week if you use Highway 21 southbound toward Parris Island.

Starting Monday, the right southbound lane of Highway 21, the Parris Island Gateway, will be closed off between the intersection of Robert Smalls Parkway, by T.J. Maxx and Big Lots, to Goethe Road from from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m, according to a media release from Cleland Site Prep. The closure will continue through Thursday Dec. 15, weather permitting.

The southbound right lane will be blocked from Monday Dec. 12 to Thursday Dec. 15

The release did not detail what work is being performed and Cleland could not be reached by phone on Dec. 10.

Cleland asks that all drivers be aware of equipment, workers and traffic control signs along the route.

The road work is dependent on the weather. Bad weather may cause work to be delayed.
