Broken-down vehicle slowing morning traffic on Hilton Head Bridge, police say

A disabled vehicle on the U.S. 278 bridge leading to Hilton Head is blocking morning traffic, according to an alert sent from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office at 9:48 a.m. Wednesday morning.

The disabled vehicle and law enforcement patrol vehicles are blocking the left eastbound lane of the highway, slowing the flow of traffic near the western end of the bridge. A tow truck will arrive to clear the roadway around 10:30 a.m., said Maj. Angela Viens, a spokesperson for the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.
