At least one person taken to the hospital after crash Wednesday morning in Port Royal

At least one person was seriously injured after a crash Wednesday morning at a Port Royal intersection that blocked lanes for drivers, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office alert and the City of Beaufort/Town of Port Royal Fire Department.

The crash, which took place before 10:40 a.m., happened at the intersection of U.S. 21 and Pinckney Boulevard. The crash was blocking the right lane heading south on U.S. 21.

One person involved in the head-on accident crashed into a tree, according to Ross Vezin, a spokesperson for the fire department.
