Crash in Beaufort blocks southbound lane of Carteret Street

An accident at the intersection of Carteret Street and Port Republic Street in Beaufort backed up traffic near downtown Beaufort, according to an alert from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office sent just before 4 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.

The crash involved a white Chevy Equinox and a small GMC truck, both with no passengers, according to Ross Vezin, a spokesperson for the City of Beaufort / Town of Port Royal Fire Department. No injuries were reported.

Traffic is flowing normally as of 4:40 p.m., according to Vezin.
