Traffic on S.C. 170 at a standstill after Sunday morning crash in Bluffton, police say

A crash Sunday morning on S.C. 170 has blocked all lanes on the highway in Bluffton, according to an alert from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash, which took place around 8 a.m. Sunday, caused drivers to be redirected at New Riverside, according to Lt. Dustin Brown of the Bluffton Township Fire District. A car heading down S.C. 170 hit a pole holding up multiple power lines that dropped into the road. The driver, who was the only person in the car, was taken to Beaufort Memorial Hospital with minor injuries, he said.

Lanes were expected to be closed for at least the next hour, until 11:30 a.m., police said in the mid-morning alert. Drivers coming from Bluffton were being turned around at New Riverside.
