Traffic still backed up through Bluffton hours after crash on Hilton Head bridges Tuesday

UPDATE: The crash has been cleared, according to authorities.

A crash on the Hilton Head Island bridges Tuesday morning has tied up traffic for hours for eastbound drivers through Bluffton on U.S. 278 and on the Bluffton Parkway.

A Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office alert was sent at 7:10 a.m. reporting a crash and lanes blocked heading onto the island.

As of around 10:30 a.m., traffic cameras show vehicles lined up nearly to Buckwalter Parkway on U.S. 278 and to the Tanger 1 Outlets on Bluffton Parkway.

Westbound lanes appeared to be clear.
