Traffic backed up on Highway 170 in Okatie following Tuesday morning crashes

Westbound traffic was backed up on S.C. 170 Tuesday morning following two car crashes, police said.

According to a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office alert, the accident occurred on Highway 170 at Argent Boulevard in Okatie sometime before 6:45 a.m.

Trooper Nick Pye with South Carolina Highway Patrol said that crash was a car-on-car collision, and that one person was transported to Savannah for treatment.

Pye said that around 8 a.m. there second crash between a car and a dump truck on Lowcountry Drive, which feeds into S.C. 170, near Strawberry Hill Road. There were no injuries, he said.
