Traffic tied up for 30 minutes on Parris Island Gateway after Wednesday morning crash
A two-car crash Wednesday morning caused multiple lane closures and slow traffic for drivers on Parris Island Gateway and S.C. 170 in Beaufort, according to an alert from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office. Traffic was cleared by 11:40 a.m.
The crash, which occurred shortly before 11:04 a.m., blocked all lanes heading south on Parris Island Gateway as well as the outside northbound lane. All eastbound lanes on S.C. 170 were also blocked following the crash.
The vehicles suffered “moderate damage” in the crash, according to City of Beaufort/Town of Port Royal Fire Department spokesperson Chief Ross Vezin. At leas two people were injured following the crash and both were transported to a local hospital by Beaufort County EMS for treatment, he said.
Traffic in the area was tied up for approximately 30 minutes and the wreck had been cleared around 11:40 a.m., Vezin said.
