3-vehicle crash blocks Woods Memorial Bridge Friday afternoon. Traffic is being detoured

A crash on Beaufort’s Woods Memorial Bridge blocked all lanes of U.S. 21 just after 3 p.m. on Friday afternoon.

A news release from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office said northbound traffic was being rerouted down Meridian Road.

The crash involved three vehicles: a Chrysler, a Ford Flex and a Nissan Altima. City of Beaufort police spokesperson Capt. George Erdel said, as of 3:30 p.m., law enforcement was attempting to get a tow truck to the crash site.

No information about possible injuries or how long before the roads are open was made available.

Motorists were advised to expect traffic delays and choose alternate routes.
