7 people, including 2 infants, hospitalized after crash on Trask Parkway Sunday morning
Seven people were sent to the hospital after a crash on Trask Parkway Sunday morning, officials say.
The crash occurred just after 10 a.m. Sunday on Trask Parkway and Roseida Road, according to Burton Fire District spokesman Capt. Dan Byrne. It is unclear who was in which car, Byrne said, but the crash involved people ages 74, 17, 16, 12 and 3.
Two 9-month-old infants were also involved in the crash, Byrne said. All of the passengers were taken to Beaufort Memorial Hospital by Beaufort County EMS with minor injuries, Byrne said.
In at least one of the cars, the doors were pushed into where the occupants were sitting, Byrne said. This is a danger sign for firefighters, he said, and signifies the possibility of serious injury. At least one car seat was out of that vehicle, Byrne said.
Traffic on Trask Parkway was backed up for 30 minutes while emergency crews worked to clear the wreck, according to Byrne.
The crash is under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol, according to Trooper Nick Pye.
