Motorcyclist airlifted after Thursday rush-hour crash on SC 170, authorities say
A motorcyclist was injured after a crash on S.C. 170 during rush hour Thursday afternoon. The collision caused all lanes heading west to be shut down, according to authorities.
A traffic advisory posted around 4:30 p.m. said emergency vehicles were at the scene of a crash at S.C. 170 and Okatie Center Boulevard South. The crash was between a motorcyclist and “another vehicle,” according to Bluffton Township Fire District spokesperson Capt. Randy Hunter. The motorcyclist was airlifted to a local trauma center, Hunter said.
Drivers were being re-routed through U.S. 278.
A traffic camera showed several police cars on the scene and S.C. Highway Patrol officers in front of a large white van.
As of 6:12 p.m., all lanes were open and emergency personnel had left the scene.
