Man died Thursday on I-95 in Ridgeland after losing control of car following seizure
A man who was killed Thursday on I-95 in Ridgeland has been identified, according to the Jasper County Coroner’s Office.
Brian Long, 41, of Clemmons, North Carolina, died after a rollover crash Thursday, according to Jasper County Coroner Willie P. Aiken III. Long had a seizure and lost control of the vehicle around 4:06 a.m., according to Ridgeland Police spokesperson Sgt. Tim East. Long let go of the steering wheel and “mashed” the accelerator, according to a police report from the Ridgeland Police Department.
The car was “well above” the speed limit before it crashed into a ditch and overturned, police said in the report. Passengers in the front and back seats tried to grab the wheel, but were unable to get control of the car, the report said. Long was pronounced dead at the scene around 4:10 a.m., Aiken said. The other five passengers were transported to Savannah Memorial Hospital, according to East.
An autopsy has been scheduled for Long for Tuesday at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, Aiken said.
