Accident on US 278 near Hilton Head’s Wilborn Road sends one to hospital, delays traffic

A two-vehicle crash on U.S. 278 Thursday morning sent at least one person to the hospital and blocked a westbound lane on Hilton Head, authorities said.
The crash, before 8 a.m. Thursday, caused traffic delays on U.S. 278 near Wilborn Road, according to an alert from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office. The left westbound lane of U.S. 278 was blocked by vehicles involved in the crash, the alert said. At 8:18 a.m., the crash had been cleared and all lanes were reopened, another alert said.
Two vehicles were involved in the crash, according to Fire Marshal Joheida Fister, and at least one person was transported to Hilton Head Regional with minor injuries, Fister said.
