Crash on SC 170 leaves one person injured, backs up traffic headed to Beaufort

UPDATE: Traffic has cleared up and all lanes are now open. This story will be updated with information from S.C. Highway Patrol on the cause of the collision.

A crash on S.C. 170 Monday morning has left one person injured and is backing up traffic in both directions, according to authorities.

One person has been transported to a nearby hospital, said Bluffton Township Fire District Capt. Randy Hunter.

Police say that all lanes going east toward Beaufort are closed, and one lane going west is shut down.

The collision occurred shortly after 8 a.m. near Snake Road in Okatie, according to authorities.
