Houlihan Bridge reopens after officials close it to address mechanical failure

The Houlihan Bridge was open on Wednesday morning after being closed for about two hours the afternoon before because of a mechanical failure.

The Georgia Department of Transportation shut down the bridge, which is along a heavily used route between Jasper County and the Port Wentworth and Savannah areas.

The bridge connects Port Wentworth to Jasper County via GA 25 and SC 170.

The reopening was announced on Facebook by the Georgia DOT - Southeast Region.
