4-vehicle accident on U.S. 278 backs up Hilton Head traffic
A four-vehicle accident near Wilborn Road on Hilton Head Island has backed up traffic along U.S. 278 Friday afternoon.
The left westbound lane of U.S. 278 was for around 40 minutes Friday near Wilborn Road, starting around 3:45 p.m., according to the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office. Lanes were cleared at 4:25 p.m.
Traffic was backed up for several miles on Hilton Head Island’s north end.
As of 4 p.m., emergency vehicles and tow trucks were on scene. Sheriff’s Office spokesman Capt. Bob Bromage said one minor injury was reported.
