Lanes reopened after Bluffton crash blocks US 278, backs up traffic
A Bluffton crash on Fording Island Road was cleared at 7 p.m. after blocking traffic near Buckwalter Parkway Thursday evening, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office advisory.
The crash shut down the center and right westbound lanes shortly before 6:30 p.m. reopened minutes after two vehicles were towed, Beaufort County traffic cameras showed.
Bluffton Township Fire District was not dispatched to the collision and there were no injuries involved, district spokesman Capt. Randy Hunter said.
A Beaufort County traffic camera at U.S. 278 and Cove Road showed Bluffton Police Department vehicles on scene and a few people standing nearby around 6:30 p.m. One vehicle, which appeared to be a white minivan, looked like it had some minor damage in the back.
The backed up traffic could be seen stretching into view of the Beaufort County traffic camera at Rose Hill shortly before 7 p.m.
