US 278 cleared after Bluffton crash

Lanes were cleared after a Bluffton crash just after 5 p.m. on U.S. 278 blocked traffic Thursday afternoon, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office advisory.

The crash near Gateway Village Road — near The Home Depot, Target and Best Buy — shut down the right and center westbound lanes, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Lanes were cleared just before 6 p.m.

The three-vehicle crash was minor, Bluffton Township Fire District Capt. Randy Hunter said later Thursday afternoon.

Realtime traffic information from South Carolina Highway Patrol indicated the crash possibly resulted in injuries. No further details were listed.
