2 injured in head-on crash on Hilton Head, traffic diverted

Two people were injured in a two-vehicle head-on crash on Hilton Head Island around 4 p.m. Thursday.

Shortly before 5 p.m., traffic was still being diverted away from the area of Spanish Wells Road near Butterfly Drive, according to Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Bob Bromage. The injured individuals were transported away from the scene to a local hospital by EMS.

South Carolina Highway Patrol was en route to the scene around 5 p.m. and will be investigating the crash, Bromage said.

Motorists are being asked to avoid the area until the scene has cleared.
